We are conducting 4 surveys over the next 3 months. If you have any thoughts, opinions or feelings o any or all of the 4 issues listed below please complete the very short surveys.
Pedestrianisation
An idea that has been tried in different forms over the years is the removal of traffic from Dún Laoghaire town centre.
There has never been a complete removal of traffic from George’s St and some feel there would be a social and economic benefit to the pedestrianisation of a section of Georges St, from the bottom of Patrick St down to St Michaels hospital. As a resident of the town what do you think of this idea?
Cycle Lanes an Improvement?
It is nearly 1 year since the new cycle lanes were created along the coast making many changes to the road network in Dún Laoghaire. There has been much discussion on the impact the cycle lanes have had on the town, both positive & negative. Earlier we point out increased footfall on Georges St since they were installed, coincidence or causation? See our website for a more detailed discussion on impacts on the traffic.
Now we would like you to give us some feedback on how you think the cycle lanes have worked?
New Cigarette Bin Proposal
It is not just takeaway food outlets that are the cause of litter in the town, there is also the issue of cigarette butts blighting the town.
NoButts is a recycling solution for cigarette butts that uses bins like the one pictured here to capture butts that would otherwise pollute the environment, typically being placed beside street furniture. Would you like to see bins like these along Georges St and other busy areas?
More CCTV to Combat Litter?
There has been a noticeable problem with littering in Dún Laoghaire ove the last 12 months.
People putting domestic waste into bins which then blocks the mouths of bins creating further littering is a major issue. Using more CCTV cameras to try and catch offenders is a theoretical possibility. Putting more cameras up to catch people littering would be effective but what are we giving away?
